Renner sets records, Bennies take 10th at D3 Classic

09/18/2022

HASTINGS, Minn. – Emily Renner set two new golf records at the D3 Classic in Hastings this weekend to help fuel the College of Saint Benedict golf team to a 10th place team finish.

Junior Emily Renner not only shot her collegiate career best round of 71 on day two of the D3 Classic, but the single round score on the par 73 course would give her the new title holder of best career round in CSB history with a –2 under par. The previous record was held by Grace Todora in 2011, who shot a –1 under par 71 at the MIAC Championships at Bunker Hills, which plays as a par 72 course. Renner also set the new 36-hole record, shooting a two-day total of 146. The previous 36-hole record of 149 was shot by All-American golfer Kathryn Hauff in 2010.

Renner's rounds of 75 and 71 put her tied for second individually to earn medalist honors. She finished her second round with four birdies and an eagle.

First year Jamie Bimberg shot a first day round of 83, followed by a career-best round of 77 to finish tied for 33rd individually. She finished her second round with four birdies.

Sophomore Georgia Hinton carded a first-round 87, then a second day round of 81 to place tied for 58th individually. She carded two birdies in her second round of the weekend.

Junior Hayden Boelter shot her career-best rounds back-to-back this weekend, carding an 86 on day one and then following it up with an 85 on day two to place tied for 65th individually.

Sophomore Halle Strunk carded back-to-back 90's on the weekend to round out the top five golfers for CSB for tournament weekend and first year Donelle Decker competed as an individual, shooting a first round 96 and second round 93 to finish the weekend.

Bethel took home the team title with a two-day team total of +22 over par of 606. St. Kate's player Kyra Venne took home the individual title with a two-day total of 145.

Up next, the Bennies will be heading to the St. Kate's Invite, which will take place at Oak Glen in Stillwater on September 24th and then move to Eagle Valley in Woodbury on September 25th.
