ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict soccer team gave the fans a thrilling offensive game this Sunday against Luther College. Â
The Bennies took control early in the game, showing their strong offensive play in the mid field and attacking zone. In the 6th minute, Chloe Miller gets two shot attempts, one saved by the Luther goalkeeper and the other off mark. The Norse got a shot in the 9th minute, but goalkeeper Annie Waters scooped it up for the save. With a gorgeous pass from Caralyn Conners, the Bennies would get on the board first in the 10th minute with a goal from Alli Voss to make it 1-0. The Bennie offense wouldn't let up after that either, Addison Stephani adding another shot on goal a minute later. In the 15th minute Alli Voss would add her second goal of the game with a nice pass across the field from Addison Stephani to make it 2-0. Â
The Bennies would continue their offensive battle, adding four more shots in the first half. The Norse begin pressuring the Bennies in the end of the half and manage to get one past Waters and the Bennie defense in the 39th minute to cut the Bennie's lead 2-1. The end of the half ended with two wild saves by Waters to keep Luther at bay and the Bennies would keep their one goal lead. Â
The second half would see two shots early from the Norse to start, one on goal saved by Paige Kahlmeyer. Back and forth action between the two teams finally becomes ball possession for the Bennies, creating a shot on goal from Voss and then shortly after, in the 61st minute Caralyn Conners puts the ball in the back of the net with the help of a pass from Ellie Wohnoutka to put the Bennies up 3-1. The Bennies didn't slow down their offensive pressure, generating four more shots in the next ten minutes, and in the 72nd minute Lana Krautkremer scored to make it 4-1 CSB. The Bennies would hold the three-goal lead to take the victory over Luther.
