SARTELL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team started the spring portion of its 2021-22 season Saturday morning with an 8-1 nonconference victory over Northwestern.
The Bennies swept singles play at Sta-Fit in Sartell to improve to 4-1 on the season with one match left before jumping into MIAC play.
CSB headed into singles play with a 2-1 lead thanks to a pair of doubles wins to start the day Saturday.
Ashley Tarrolly and
Lily Fredericks picked up an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles and
Jane Bodensteiner and
Maria Bedford teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
Tarrolly and Fredericks both picked up wins in singles play as well as Tarrolly won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Fredericks 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Peyton Kopel won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles and
Greta Nesbit picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. Bodensteiner won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Bedford wrapped up the day with a tight 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
Saint Benedict heads to Owatonna to take on Division II Upper Iowa at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13. The Bennies are back at home Saturday, Feb. 19, when it opens conference play against Concordia.
