Biography
2022-23: Earned All-MIAC honors … received Academic All-MIAC honors for the 2022-23 season … selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-District/Region honoree … named CSB Athlete of the Week on 9/26/22 … competed in 17 singles matches and 17 doubles matches … recorded 7 singles wins … finished 7-10 in singles play, including 4-7 in MIAC singles play … spent most of the season at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles … finished third on the team with 9 doubles wins … went 9-8, including 5-6 in MIAC doubles play.
2021-22: Earned All-MIAC singles and doubles honors as a sophomore - a first for the Bennies since 2015 ... finished second on the team with nine singles wins, and finished the year 9-9 overall ... went 6-4 in MIAC play, mostly at No. 2 singles ... also went 8-10 in doubles play, mostly at No. 1 doubles.
2020-21: Led the team with seven singles wins as a first year ... finished 7-5 in singles play, all at No. 3 singles ... also led the team with four singles wins in MIAC play ... finished 4-8 in doubles play, mostly at No. 2 doubles ... won at both singles and doubles against Division II MSU-Mankato.
High School: Kopel is a 2020 graduate of Foley High School where she played tennis for four years. She was named team MVP each year from 2017-19, earned all-conference honors all four years from 2016-19 and also earned Academic All-State in 2019. She was also a state qualifier in 2018 and 2019, and joined the 100-win club as a senior. Her proudest accomplishment was making it to the state tournament for the first time.
Personal: Peyton is the daughter of Scott Kopel and Shelly Bauerly Kopel. She has one brother, Preston. Her mother, brother, uncle and cousins have also attended CSB/SJU. Her hobbies include running, cooking and being outside.
