Day 1 Results
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team got the 2022 MIAC Championships off to a strong start Wednesday night.
In the team's first race of the meet,
Madison Slavik,
Ana Birklid,
Jessica Milstroh and
Emi Wagner teamed up to set the school record in the 200 medley relay. The Bennies took fourth in the event in 1:47.77 – more than three-tenths of a second faster than the previous record of 1:48.11, set in 2014 by Emily Roberts, Victoria Tormanen, Laura Peterson and Steph Bierman.
St. Kate's won the event in 1:43.30 – an NCAA qualifying time.
In the second and final race of Wednesday's first session of the four-day meet,
Molly Johanson,
Riley Engle,
Hannah Tatge and
Lindsay Smutka took sixth in the 800 free relay in 8:04.60. St. Kate's won that event in 7:27.26 – another NCAA qualifying time.
After two events, the Bennies are in fifth as a team with 56 points. The Wildcats lead the team race with 80 points, St. Olaf is in second with 68, Gustavus is third with 64 and Macalester rounds out the top four with 58 points.
The first full day of competition starts at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, with the men's 500 freestyle. Fans are welcome but must be properly masked, and tickets must be purchased online. Live results and video are available on the
