ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After an exciting fall season, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team is ready to get the spring portion of its 2021-22 season under way.

The Bennies start the spring with a home match Saturday, Feb. 5. The match starts at 10:30 a.m. at Sta-Fit in Sartell. Per MIAC policy, fans must be masked at all times.

CSB finished the fall season 3-1, including a win over Division II MSU-Moorhead. The Bennies also beat Wartburg and UW-River Falls in September. First year Ashley Tarrolly and senior Lily Fredericks both went to the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles play before falling. Tarrolly also made it to the round of 16 in singles play.

Sophomore Jane Bodensteiner heads into the spring season undefeated at 3-0 in singles play, and Grace Lee is 2-0. Both Fredericks and Tarrolly, along with Greta Nesbit, went 3-1 in singles play.

Tarrolly and Fredericks went 3-1 together at No. 1 doubles in the fall, and Maria Bedford and Bodensteiner and Sophia Jonas and Peyton Kopel both teamed up to pick up two doubles wins.

After hosting Northwestern Saturday, the Bennies take on D2 Upper Iowa on Feb. 13 in Owatonna before getting into MIAC play. Saint Benedict opens the MIAC season Saturday, Feb. 19, when it hosts Concordia at 4:30 p.m. The team takes its spring break training trip to Miami in early March, and its first scheduled home outdoor match is Sunday, April 3, against Carleton.
