Bennies win five titles and 18 top-3 finishes

ST. PETER, Minn. – Led by two individual titles by senior Molly Johanson, the College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team finished second in an impressive performance at the Grace Goblirsch Invite on Saturday.

The Bennies, which will compete at the Rochester Invite Dec. 2-4 before the holiday break, finished second with 860 points. The host, Gustavus Adolphus was first with 1,647 points with Morningside, third, at 393 points and Augsburg, fourth, 34 points.

In total, CSB had five individual titles with 18 top-three finishes and 27 top-five results.

Johnson won the 1,650 free with a season-best 19:19.63 and had a victory in the 400 IM in 4:54.73. In the 200 butterfly, junior Laura Jennings won the title with a season-best of 2:20.44.

Junior Emi Wagner continues to sprint at a fast pace, she had her season-best of 25.19 in winning the 50 free. That mark is .17 better than her previous best this year of 25.36.

Junior Lindsay Smutka had a season-best 1:00.57 in capturing the 100 backstroke while also taking second in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.91 as well as the 200 backstroke in 2:14.68.
