COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict golf team began the first round of the MIAC playoffs this afternoon at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.
The CSB golf team shot a first day total of 330, putting them in a three-way tie for 4th place after the first day with Gustavus and Macalester. Carleton leads on day one with a team score of 302, with St. Kate's just two strokes behind in second place.
Junior Emily Renner led the Bennies on day one, shooting a first round 80 to put her tied for 12th individually. First year Jamie Bimberg carded a first day score of 81, putting her tied for 18th as an individual.
Sophomore Sami Boerboom shot an 82 on day one to put her 23rd individually and fellow sophomore Georgia Hinton shot an 87, which puts her tied for 34th as an individual. Rounding out the top five for the Bennies is junior Hayden Boelter, who shot a first round 92 to put her 45th individually.
St. Kate's Kyra Venne leads the individual race, shooting a first round of 3-under par 70. Carleton's Carter Sichol is in second place with a first-round score of 1-over par 74.
The Bennies will continue the MIAC Championships with day two tomorrow morning, the first tee time at 10:56 a.m.
