WHITEWATER, Wis. – For the second time in the last three seasons, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team will be represented on the second day of the ITA Midwest Tournament.
First year
Ashley Tarrolly won her first-round matchup Friday afternoon to move on to Saturday morning in the winner's bracket of the tournament, hosted by UW-Whitewater in Whitewater, Wis. Tarrolly beat UW-Eau Claire's Elaine Franta 6-2, 6-2, and takes on Saint Mary's Natalie Peterson at 9 a.m. Saturday. Peterson and Tarrolly were teammates at St. Cloud Tech High School.
Tarrolly and senior
Lily Fredericks teamed up for the ITA doubles draw as well, and the duo picked up an 8-6 first-round win over a doubles tandem from Edgewater College. They were slated to play at 4:30 p.m., but didn't end up starting until closer to 7:30 p.m. after the match was moved indoors due to rainy weather in the area. Tarrolly and Fredericks play against a UW-Whitewater duo at approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Fredericks also competed in the singles tournament and fell in her first-round match. She lost 6-2, 6-2 to Luther's Sofia Sackett. That ended her weekend in the singles bracket.
