ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team is home for the first time in 2020 this weekend when it hosts Finlandia in a nonconference series. The first game of the series is at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, and the second is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the MAC in St. Cloud.
This marks the final nonconference play of the season for CSB, which is unbeaten so far in 2020 and 2-0-1 in its last three games.
ABOUT THE LIONS
Finlandia is still looking for its first win of the season at 0-9 heading into this weekend's nonconference doubleheader. The Lions haven't played a true game since hosting Marian Dec. 7-8. They lost two close games, 2-1 and 4-3. Kait Ryyanen leads the team with four goals and two assists, and in net Annah Smiddy has a team-high 147 saves.
LAST MEETING
This marks just the sixth meeting between Finlandia and CSB in program history, and the first since 2011. CSB is 2-4 all time against Finlandia, but it beat the Lions on Nov. 7, 2009, and again on Nov. 5, 2011, with both games being played in St. Cloud.
THE STORYLINE
The Bennies have found success both on the road and at home in their last three games, and look to keep a three-game unbeaten streak alive with a pair of home games this weekend. With a tough stretch of MIAC play on the horizon, a five-game unbeaten streak would give the team plenty of momentum as it looks to climb the conference rankings.
