ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After two big regional wins against a pair of Wisconsin schools, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team hits the road for another pair of big regional games, this time in Iowa.
CSB heads to Waverly, Iowa, Saturday, Sept. 7, for a 3 p.m. game against Wartburg, then travels to Decorah Sunday for a 3 p.m. game against Luther.
About the Knights
Wartburg is also 2-0 to start the year after nonconference wins against Macalester and Knox. The Knights started the year with a 3-1 win over the Scots, then beat Knox 2-1. Kate Luers leads the team with two goals, and three other players have also scored. Marissa Lopez has played both games in net. The Knights are coming off an American Rivers Conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.
About the Norse
Luther is 0-2 after traveling to Virginia for a pair of nonconference games against tough competition. The team lost 4-0 to both Virginia Wesleyan and Christopher Newport. Kennedy Bergren has 12 saves in two games played for Luther, which made the ARC conference championship game last season.
The Storyline
After a pair of big wins against WIAC schools last weekend – including a 3-1 win over No. 17 La Crosse – CSB looks to pick up two more regional wins in Iowa. The team's strength of schedule early in the year could play a big role in its success when MIAC play starts later in September.

Junior forward
Megan Thompson earned MIAC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in her career after a big opening weekend. She scored five goals and notched one assist in two games, and leads the MIAC in points and goals.
