BECKER, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict golf team has three golfers inside the top 16 and four in the top 25 after two rounds of the 2019 MIAC Championships.
Two of the team's five golfers moved up in the standings Sunday in the second round of play at Pebble Creek in Becker. As a team, CSB slipped one spot from fourth into fifth. After shooting a 323 Saturday, CSB carded a 331 Sunday and moved behind Carleton with a 654. The Knights are just three strokes ahead of Saint Benedict in fourth with a 651, and third-place St. Thomas is just two strokes ahead of them with a 649.
St. Kate's held onto the team lead after two rounds, and maintain a five-stroke lead heading into the final round with a 628. Bethel is second with a 633.
Junior
Emily Olson continues to lead Saint Benedict as she sits tied for 12
th after two rounds. She shot an 87 Sunday, and has a two-round total of 163.
Bridget Amundson and
Liz Schultz are both tied for 16
th with 164s. After shooting an 87 Saturday, Amundson moved from 30
th into 16
th by taking 10 strokes off that score and shooting a 77. Schultz shot an 86 Sunday in the second round.
Grace Hillemeier is in 23
rd after two rounds with a 167. She shot an 85 Sunday. Senior
Nikki Frederickson moved from 32
nd into a tie for 29
th after taking five strokes off her first-round score to finish with a 171 after carding an 83 Sunday.
Carleton's Alyssa Akiyama maintained the individual lead after two rounds with a 146. Bethel's Nicole Miller is second with a 152 and St. Thomas' Cayla Kim is third with a 154.
Monday's third and final rounds starts with tee times at 8:57 a.m. off of holes No. 1 and 10 at Pebble Creek. Frederickson tees off first for Saint Benedict off No. 1 at 8:57 a.m., and her teammates follow every nine minutes after that until Olson starts at 9:33 a.m.
The winner of the 2019 MIAC Championship team title earns the league's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championships in May.
