Volleyball Abroad: Exploring Glasgow

05/17/2019

The CSB volleyball team is in Scotland May 14-22. The team will play three games and spend time sightseeing in Glasgow, Edinburgh and around Scotland. Each day, a different athlete or athletes will write about the day's journey's. The bloggers for May 16 are Abby Jemmings '22 and Claire Westby '22.

Our first full day in Scotland was nothing less than we expected. We started our day by having breakfast in the hotel followed by taking the subway to the west end of Glasgow.

Once we got to the west end, we walked on Byers Road, Ashton's Lane, and everywhere else. While walking around, it was neat to see all the different shops and what locals were like. We also got the chance to visit and explore the University of Glasgow. The architecture was beautiful, but also neat to see what "college" life is like here. We got time to walk around and explore before starting our trek to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

The volleyball team on the bus to Sterling

We explored and looked at the paintings before heading to find food. Shortly after lunch, we took off and headed to Sterling to see the castle. It was fascinating to see the history and just in general the castle itself because let's be honest, castles are always cool. Some of us during our time in Sterling rode a trolley downtown and got to walk and explore the streets of the beautiful city of Sterling. We then headed to supper where we ate an American beef commercial mixed with a pot pie but Scottish style followed by cheesecake.

Our day exploring Scotland was breathtaking to say the least. We've done lots of walking but it's all been worth it.
