ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team's shooting went cold Wednesday against one of the best-shooting teams in the country.
Saint Benedict shot just 19 percent from the field in a 90-31 loss at No. 3 St. Thomas Wednesday. With one game left in the regular season, the Tommies sealed the MIAC regular-season title while CSB is tied for fourth with Gustavus. CSB is 14-10 overall and 10-7 in the MIAC. The Gusties are also 10-7, and Saint Mary's is right behind with a 9-8 conference mark.
CSB fell behind early Wednesday against one of the best-shooting offenses in the country and could never recover. While Saint Benedict made a trio of field goals, UST (23-1, 17-0) shot 68.8 percent and took a 27-6 lead after the first quarter. CSB's best quarter of the game was the second when it scored 11 points and held the Tommies to 19, but UST held CSB to single digits again in the third and fourth quarters.

Sidney Schiffler all had six points to lead CSB, which hit 11 field goals all night.
Maddie Schmitz had five points and five rebounds. CSB went 8-for-9 from the line and had 28 rebounds and 15 turnovers.
Hannah Spaulding had 16 points to pace UST, which hit 38 field goals. She also had six rebounds. The Tommies went 6-for-6 from the line and had 53 rebounds and nine turnovers.
Saint Benedict wraps up the regular season Saturday, Feb. 16, when it hosts Carleton at 1 p.m.
