CSB falls to Royals, 3-0

BLAINE, Minn. – For the second straight night, the College of Saint Benedict hockey team had chances against Bethel, but the Royals were able to come away with a 3-0 win Saturday afternoon in Blaine.

The Royals scored twice in the first period and added a goal in the third to help seal the win. Saint Benedict is now 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the MIAC.

The Royals outshot CSB 13-6 in the first period, and made sure two of those shots found the back of the net. The first goal came at the 5:51 mark and proved to be the game-winner, and the second came at the 18:09 mark of the first period. Bethel scored the final goal of the game at the 12:06 mark of the second period.

CSB had 13 shots in the second period – including several breakaways – but couldn't get anything past the Royals' goalie. Courtney Conlin finished with five shots on net for Saint Benedict, Julia Pias had four and Annie Luzum finished with three.

First year goalie Ally Frantzick made 30 saves in her CSB debut between the pipes. She had 11 saves in the first period alone. Bethel finished with 33 shots on net to CSB's 26.

Saint Benedict returns to action Friday and Saturday as it heads to Moorhead for a pair of games against Concordia.
