CSB moves past Bethel making them 6-0 in the MIAC for the first time since 2008.

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bennies show dominance in a win against Bethel to become 6-0 in the MIAC for the first time since 2008.

The Bennies' win –which saw set scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-16 –is their third win in a row and gives an indication that CSB has no thoughts of slowing down any time soon. They are now a whopping 6-0 in the MIAC for the first time since 2008 and have a 16-5 record overall. Last year, on this same day the Bennies were 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the MIAC with the only loss to St. Thomas. Last year the Bennies' were 2017 MIAC Volleyball Champions, beating St. Thomas in 5 games. CSB looks to be a strong competitor in the tournament again this year as they continue to lead the MIAC.

The Royals, 17-4 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC, battled with CSB each game but the Bennies prevailed. In the first set, CSB started out strong with a kill from Madison Weiss. Lauren Mathews continued the streak with two back to back kills coming from assists by Katie Koch forcing Bethel into an early timeout. Haley LaValle had an ace to make the game 14-10. The Royals fought back from that point on to cut the Bennie lead to 24-20. However, a kill by Madison Weiss put the first game away for CSB.

Bethel came out ready in the first few points of the second set causing the Bennies to be down 3-7 early. Following a time out, CSB took advantage of the Royal's errors. CSB then answered with two kills by senior Lauren Mathews and a double block by Lauren Mathews and Katie Koch tying the score at 7. The Weiss twins took turns getting kills and Bethel could not keep up. Liz Schultz and Madison Weiss teamed up for two blocks almost back to back to help the Bennies to a score of 24-23. Hunter Weiss got a big kill to end the match and put this close set battle away for the Bennies.

In the third set, the Royals led for the first points of the game and had a 3-point lead when CSB took a timeout at 4-7 to regroup. Freshman Claire Westby had a nice kill giving CSB some get up and go. Bethel followed with a timeout after a big kill by Hunter Weiss that gave CSB a two-point lead in this back and forth match. A couple of consecutive errors by Bethel lead up to the score of 21-16 in favor of CSB. CSB kept the momentum and ended the match with a kill by Liz Schultz by and service ace from Allison Roehl.
