ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team looks to get back on the winning track and to keep building on its momentum as the regular season starts to wind down. The team is back at home Saturday, Oct. 13, for a 1 p.m. MIAC matchup against Gustavus Adolphus College.
About the Gusties
Gustavus is 5-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the MIAC heading into Saturday's matchup after snapping a five-game losing streak Tuesday. The team beat Saint Mary's 2-0, which ended a streak that saw the Gusties take on each of the top teams in the league. Abby Mullenbach leads the team with five goals, Emily Skogseth has three assists and Abby Goodno has recorded the second-most saves in the MIAC (72) in 10 games in net for the Gusties.
Last Meeting
CSB and Gustavus matched up last year in St. Peter. The Oct. 14
th game resulted in a 0-0 tie after double overtime. The Gusties held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Jenna Kleason led the CSB offense with four shots, and Chase Miller had eight shots for the Gusties.
Kendall Koenen stopped all seven shots she faced in the 2017 meeting.
The Storyline
With four games left in the regular season, Gustavus is in eighth in the MIAC and CSB is in sixth. Both teams are looking to pick up some wins as the season winds down to move up in the league standings and secure a spot in the league's postseason tournament. Saint Benedict heads into Saturday's game coming off a 4-1 loss to St. Kate's at home on Tuesday.
