Results

SARTELL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team dropped an extremely tight match to St. Cloud State Saturday afternoon. SCSU (9-5) won all three doubles matches, but CSB came back to win four of the six singles matches to keep the match close.

"(Saturday) we played with the mentality we have been looking to play with all year," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "We played like the team we are striving to be, and we should be really proud of that. If we keep playing this way, it will definitely fall 5-4 in our favor next time."

Laura Finn picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles for Saint Benedict, which is now 8-7. Tessa Rahrick won in super sets, 3-6, 7-5 (10-8) at No. 2 singles, and Erin Kolbow won 7-5, 6-2 in a close match at No. 3 singles. The Huskies won 7-6, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, and picked up a win in extra sets 5-7, 6-1 (10-7) at No. 5 singles. Gabbie Noack won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles for CSB.

Finn and Rahrick teamed up at No. 1 doubles but fell 8-5, and Ellen Stensrud and Kolbow fell 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. Noack and Lauren Clark fell 8-3 at No. 3 doubles to wrap up doubles play.

CSB is back in action and is scheduled to start playing outdoors Friday, March 31, when it hosts St. Olaf at 3:30 p.m. in St. Joseph.
