SARTELL, Minn. – Senior
Laura Finn and first year
Tessa Rahrick picked up the lone win for the College of Saint Benedict tennis team Sunday night against an undefeated St. Thomas squad.

The Tommies beat CSB 8-1 at Sta-Fit in Sartell, Minn., in CSB's second home match and second MIAC match of the season. Saint Benedict is now 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC heading into its spring break trip to Orlando.

"We took nothing but positive steps forward this evening," head coach
Michael Engdahl said. "Despite the score line, the matches were very competitive and we played the type of tennis we want to play. If we keep building off matches like today, we are going to be a dangerous team when it matters most."

Finn and Rahrick teamed up to win 9-7 at No. 1 doubles in an extremely tight match all the way through. UST (8-0) won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles and 8-4 at No. 3 doubles despite solid efforts from
Lauren Clark and
Gabbie Noack to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

The Tommies swept the singles competition to wrap up the night. Finn fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Rahrick retired due to illness at No. 2 singles.
Erin Kolbow fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 and Ellen Stenrud los 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Clark fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Noack fell 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

Saint Benedict's next two matches mark the team's first outdoor matches of the season. CSB takes on Minnesota-Duluth and Meredith College on its trip to Orlando next week over spring break. CSB returns to MIAC play March 18 when it takes on St. Kate's at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
