COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The divers were the stars for the College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team Saturday afternoon in a MIAC dual against St. Thomas.
Maggie Pomerenke won the one-meter diving competition and
Mallory Jarvi won the three-meter board, marking CSB's only wins in a 174-67 loss to UST in Collegeville. Pomerenke won the one-meter board with a score of 234.55, and Jarvi finished third with 204.85 points. Jarvi won the three-meter competition with a mark of 219.75 while Pomerenke took fifth (82.30).
CSB finished the day with eight other individual top-three performances.
Kenzie Young took second in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle. She finished the IM in 2:18.94 and the 500 free in 5:28.41.
Emma Ridgeway finished second in the 100 freestyle (57.62) and
Meghan Kratz took third (57.77), and
Ashley Groebner took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.95.
Meghan Mokhtary took third in the same race in 1:10.17.
Kristina Rudin finsiehd third in the 100 fly in 1:04.04, and also took fourth in the 50 free in 25.57 seconds. Ridgeway finished fifth in the 50 in 25.96 seconds. CSB swept the third- through fifth-place spots in the 100 backstroke as
Maddie Kinney took third (1:04.58),
Lauren Christiansen fourth (1:04.71) and
Sydney Weires fifth (1:06.69).
Kratz took fifth in the 200 free (2:07.55),
Marissa Behounek finished fifth in the 1,000 free (12:13.80) and Andera Molus took fifth in the 200 IM (2:27.24). Ridgeway, Groebner, Rudin and Kratz teamed up to take third in the 400 medley relay in 4:10.26, and Ridgeway, Kratz, Claudia Mahnoey and Rudin took third in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:54.65.
Saint Benedict is off now until it competes at the St. Thomas Invite Dec. 1-2 in St. Paul, Minn.
