ST. PAUL, Minn. – With the regular season winding down, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team picked up a key MIAC win over St. Kate's Tuesday afternoon.
Sydney Bramer scored the lone goal of the game – her fourth of the season – to lift CSB to a 1-0 victory over the Wildcats.
With four games left in the regular season, Saint Benedict is now 8-2-1 overall and 4-2-1 and fourth in the MIAC.
The first half was scoreless, despite three late shots on net by Saint Benedict.
Jane Koch and
Karen Phillips both had shots on net in the final three minutes of the first half.
Bramer's goal came just over two minutes into the second half when she took a pass from
Megan Thompson, drew the Wildcat goalkeeper out and scored from the middle of the box in the 47
th minute.
The Wildcats had a shot that hit the crossbar in the 78
th minute, and a shot on net in the 85
th minute, but
Kendall Koenen made the save to preserve the win and the shutout.
St. Kate's outshot CSB 16-15, but Saint Benedict held a 7-4 margin in shots on net. Koenen finished the night with four saves.
CSB is on the road again Saturday, Oct. 14, when it travels to St. Peter, Minn., to take on Gustavus.
