ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Last season, 
Elli Marvin scored 11 goals in 25 games. This season, the senior forward has 11 goals midway through the season.
 
Marvin tied her career-high of 11 goals with a second-period goal Saturday afternoon in the College of Saint Benedict hockey team's 5-2 loss to Marian. She also notched an assist to bring her season total to 18 points, and she currently leads the MIAC in points and goals and is tied for third in total assists.
 
Brigette Miller also scored for CSB, which is now 3-9 overall.
 
Marian (6-7-1) started the scoring just nine seconds into the first period when Hailey Miller scored on a loose rebound in front of CSB goalie 
Amy Jost. That lead held the rest of the first period, and Marvin tied the score in the second minute of period number two.
 
That lead wouldn't hold, however, as Sarah Bier scored in the 15
th minute to make it 2-1, and Paige Johnson scored less than two minutes later for the Sabres to make it 3-1 heading into the final period.
 
Marian added two more goals in the third period – one in the third minute and one in the 12
th – before Milelr scored her goal in the 14
th minute off assists from Marvin and 
Kylie Eklund.
 
CSB outshot Marian 26-25, but Sabres goalie Lindsey Strainis made 24 saves. Jost made 20 saves in net for Saint Benedict. Miller finished with nine shots on net and Marvin had six.
 
CSB is back and home and returns to MIAC play Thursday, Jan. 12, when it hosts St. Olaf at 7:30 p.m. at the MAC in St. Cloud.
