NORTHFIELD, Minn. – After dropping a heartbreaker in overtime to St. Olaf Thursday night, the College of Saint Benedict hockey team picked up another tough loss to the Oles Saturday afternoon.
After two scoreless periods, the third period was scoreless as well until the 12
th minute when St. Olaf scored the only goal of the game and the eventual game-winner to come away with the 1-0 victory in Northfield.
Saint Benedict is now 3-11 overall and 0-7 in the MIAC while St. Olaf is 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the league.
First-year goalie
Amy Jost made 13 saves in the first period for CSB to keep the Oles off the board, and she added nine more saves in the second period to keep the game scoreless heading into the third and final period. Natalie Kelly scored the game-winner for the Oles at the 12:23 mark, and CSB was unable to score and tie the game.
Katie Cristan had a late shot, and
Hannah Esselman had a pair of shots after Saint Benedict pulled Jost with just over a minute left, but the Oles made the saves to preserve the win.
The Oles outshot CSB 29-18.
Elli Marvin finished with six shots on net to lead CSB, and Jost finished the game with 28 saves.
CSB is back in action Wednesday, Jan. 18, for a makeup game against Hamline. That game starts at 7 p.m. at the MAC in St. Cloud.
