The College of Saint Benedict tennis team lost 7-2 to Bethel Tuesday afternoon in a MIAC match in Arden Hills.
The Blazers are now 6-10 overall and 3-6 in the MIAC with one match left in the regular season. Five teams - Gustavus, St. Thomas, Carleton, Bethel and St. Olaf - have already secured berths in the six-team conference tournament, and one is still up for grabs. CSB is just behind St. Kate's (4-5) and Saint Mary's (4-6).
Saint Benedict picked up a win in doubles play as
Taylor Kraemer and
Megan Hintz teamed up to win 8-5 at No. 3 doubles. The Blazers' second win came at No. 6 singles, where
Ellen Stensrud won 6-0, 7-6 (5-0).
Laura Finn and
Rachel Raden fell 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and
Victoria Beach and
Cassy Finn lost 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Beach fell in a super breaker at No. 2 singles, 7-6 (5-0), 4-6, 10-8.
Laura Finn lost 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Raden fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles, Karemer lost 6-1, 6-2, and Hintz lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
The Blazers wrap up the regular season Friday, April 29, at 4 p.m. when they host St. Kate's at the CSB tennis courts.
