ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team continues its spring season with three matches this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14.
The Blazers start the weekend with a pair of road matches Saturday in Winona. CSB plays its first MIAC match of the year at noon Sunday when it takes on Saint Mary's, and later that afternoon the Blazers play Martin Luther in a neutral nonconference match at 3 p.m. CSB wraps up the weekend with its first home match of the year at 9 a.m. Sunday at Fitness Evolution in Sartell.
Saint Benedict enters the weekend coming off a 6-3 loss to Northwestern this past weekend.
Victoria Beach and
Rachel Raden both won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, and also teamed up to win at No. 2 doubles for the Blazers. Sophomore
Cassy Finn lost in a hard-fought match that came down to a super tiebreaker at No. 4 singles.
Saint Mary's enters the weekend 1-1 overall with a win against Bethany Lutheran and a loss to Carleton in a MIAC matchup. The Cardinals were scheduled to host North Central Friday night, but that match was postponed.
The Knights are 0-1 after a loss to Macalester last weekend. The Cobbers are 0-2 with losses to MSU-Moorhead and Hamline last weekend. Concordia takes on Bethel Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis before coming to Sartell Sunday morning.
Sunday's match marks one of just two home indoor matches scheduled for CSB this spring. After Sunday, the Blazers are on the road for two matches and then back at Fitness Evolution against Hamline March 10. CSB heads to Puerto Rico for its spring training trip March 19-24, and the Blazers kick off their outdoor season April 9 at home.
