Heller wins three events to lead CSB against Wildcats

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Katie Heller won three events Friday night to lead the College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team to a 157-86 dual win over St. Kate's in St. Paul.
 
Heller won the 50 and 100 freestyle races and was part of the winning 200 medley relay for CSB, which won seven of 13 events. She won the 50 in 25.76 seconds and the 100 free in 56.55 seconds, and teamed up with Sydney Weires, Ashley Groebner and Larissa Kleen to win the 200 medley relay in 1:54.19.
 
Groebner and Weires also picked up an individual win for CSB. Groebner won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.31 and took second in the 200 IM in 2:20.36. Weires won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.47. First year Allison Crum took 25 seconds off her personal best to win the 1,000 freestyle in 11:29.81. She also took second in the 500 free in 5:37.40. CSB's final win came in the 200 freestyle relay, where Allyson Lidtke, Meghan Kratz, Skyler Clough and Meghan Harder teamed up to win in 1:44.93.
 
Kratz also finished second in the 100 (57.51) and 200 (2:07.61) freestyle races, and Harder took third in the 100 in 1:00.01. Lidtke took second in the 50 free in 26.30 seconds, and Harder finished third in 26.60. Amy Nemanich finished second behind Crum in the 1,000 free in 11:38.81, and Morgan Murphy took third in 11:39.98. Nemanich took third in the 500 free in 5:39.71.
 
Maggie Pomerenke took second in the one-meter diving competition with a mark of 216.20, and Mallory Jarvi took third with a score of 187.20. Jarvi also took second in the three-meter competition with a score of 165.50, and Briana Lovato took third with a score of 163.75.
 
Grace Livermore took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.12, and Clough took third (1:06.39). Clough also finished third in the 200 IM in 2:21.77. Lauren Christiansen finished second in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.19, and Emma Ridgeway finished third in 1:05.44. Kayla Albers took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.10, and Kaylee O'Connell took third in 1:14.34.
 
Christiansen, Albers, Stephanie Brenk and Ridgeway took second in the 200 medley relay (2:00.03) and Andrea Molus, O'Connell, Brenna Sharp and Marissa Behounek took third in 2:02.62. Kleen, Lynnae Boe, Nemanich and Crum took second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:49.64.
 
Friday's dual meet marked CSB's last competition of 2016. The team leaves for Florida for its annual training trip Jan. 2, and returns to action Jan. 13, 2017, against Hamline.
