ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – Heading into the third period of Saturday afternoon's MIAC hockey game between the College of Saint Benedict and Concordia, CSB held a comfortable 4-2 lead, and looked to pick up its first conference win of the year.
Seven goals, nine penalties and an overtime period later, the Cobbers came out on top of a high-scoring contest, beating Saint Benedict 7-6 in overtime in Alexandria, Minn. The win completed the weekend sweep for Concordia.
With nine seconds left in the second period, Maddie Dockery took a pass from Katie Cristan and rifled a shot that hit the went over the Concordia goalie's right shoulder, hit the crossbar and bounced in to put CSB up 4-2 and give Saint Benedict all the momentum heading into the final period.
The Cobbers had other ideas, however. Concordia scored less than three minutes into the third period on a power play to make it 4-3, and then scored three goals – two on the power play – within 41 seconds to take a 6-4 lead.

Concordia had several blocked shots to start the overtime and Carle made six saves, but the Cobbers ended the game with 54 seconds left in overtime when Ellen Rethwisch scored from the right side of the net to make it 7-6.
Cristan started the scoring for CSB with a power play goal – her first of the season – in the 14th minute of the first period.
