ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team is back on the road one last time in the 2016 regular season for another MIAC matchup. CSB takes on Concordia at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Moorhead. CSB heads into the match coming off of a 3-2 loss to Augsburg.
 
About the Cobbers
Concordia enters Saturday's game with a record of 8-17 overall and 4-6 in the MIAC. The Cobbers are coming into this game after a 3-0 loss at St. Thomas and are on a seven-game losing streak. Emily Friedrich leads the team with 275 kills, and Stephanie Baker has 378 digs. Jena Klaphake is third in the MIAC with 764 assists.
 
Last Year
CSB beat Concordia 3-0 on Oct. 31 in St. Joseph. Megan Pekarek finished with 40 assists, Meghan Koop had 12 digs, and Briana Schmiesing had 13 kills for the Blazers.
 
Who to Watch
Megan Pekarek leads the Blazers with 890 assists and is first in the MIAC with 9.89 assists per set. Liz Schultz (232 kills) and Briana Schmiesing (236 kills) lead the Blazers on attack. Haley LaValle leads the team with 409 digs, followed by Meghan Koop with 332 digs. Liz Schultz and Lauren Mathews both have at least 60 total blocks this season.
 
The Storyline
CSB is looking to improve its 5-5 MIAC record in an important conference matchup this Saturday against a Concordia team that have proven to be tough competition this year. Saint Benedict is currently sixth in the MIAC standings with one match remaining in the season, and Concordia is tied for seventh. The top six teams make the conference tournament, which starts Tuesday, Nov. 1. Both teams need a win to get into the conference tournament, so it's a win-or-go-home situation for both CSB and the Cobbers.
