MIAC Release
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. –
Natalie Amundson has proven that she's among the best in the MIAC on the golf course throughout her first two seasons with the College of Saint Benedict golf team.
Now, Amundson has shown that she's also at the top of the conference in the classroom.
Amundson, a sophomore at CSB, is the 2016 recipient of the MIAC Elite 22 Award for golf, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The MIAC Elite 22 Award is modeled after the NCAA Elite 89 Award, and is presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA participating at the final site for team sports and earns all-conference for individual sports.
Amundson, a nursing major with a 3.941 GPA, finished eighth at this year's MIAC Championships. She shot a three-round total f 238, the fourth-best 54-hole score in CSB golf history. Her second-round score of 75 marked a season low and is the fifth-best 18-hole individual score in school history. Amundson's top-10 finish at the conference meet ensures that she has a spot on the All-MIAC list when honors are announced in Spring 2017.
Amundson, who tied for second at the conference meet as a first year, is the first CSB athlete to win the MIAC Elite 22 Award since 2013. That fall, Piper Murray won the award for soccer and Kathryn Gaydos won for volleyball.
This MIAC Elite 22 Award for golf was a sweep for CSB|SJU in 2016 as Saint Johns' senior Mack Farley was the men's honoree.
