DECORAH, Iowa – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team split a pair of nonconference matches Saturday afternoon in Decorah, Iowa.
The Blazers lost their first match of the day 9-0 to Luther College, which was ranked 20
th in the final ITA regional poll of the 2014-15 season, but went on to defeat Loras College 9-0 to wrap up the day.
CSB started its match with three straight doubles wins, including
Victoria Beach and
Cassy Finn who picked up a close 9-8 (7-2) win at No. 1 doubles.
Rachel Raden and
Taylor Kraemer teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and
Ellen Stensrud and
Megan Hintz won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Beach played No. 1 singles for CSB and defeated her Loras opponent 6-1, 6-3. Kraemer won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Raden won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3. Finn picked up a 4-6, 6-1 (10-8) win at No. 4 singles, Stensrud won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5 singles and Hintz rounded out the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Kylie Miller and
Carly Fyle both picked up wins in extra singles wins for CSB.
The Blazers wrap up their fall season Saturday, Sept. 19 when they travel to Eau Claire, Wis., for a pair of nonconference matches.
