ResultsST. PETER, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team ended the regular season with a loss to MIAC Champion Gustavus, but its win Saturday against Hamline was enough to earn it the No. 6 seed in the league's postseason tournament.
The Blazers, who enter the conference tournament 8-11 overall and 5-5 in the league, take on No. 3 Carleton at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in Northfield, Minn. The Knights are 13-3 overall and 8-2 in the MIAC.
Saint Benedict wrapped up the regular season Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 loss to Gustavus, which ended the regular season 15-12 overall and a perfect 10-0 in the conference.
In the doubles competition,
Daley Rupar and
Rachel Raden fell 8-1 to Sidney Dirks and Laurel Krebsbach at No. 1 doubles.
Laura Finn and
Cassy Finn lost 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, and
Victoria Beach and
Taylor Kraemer fell 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Rupar fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and
Laura Finn lost 6-4, 6-1 to Krebsbach at No. 2 singles. Beach lost 6-0, 6-0 to Lizzy Stanczyk at No. 3 singles, and Kraemer fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Raden fell 6-1, 6-2 to Katie Aney at No. 5 singles and
Megan Hintz lost 6-3, 6-3 to Ally Baker at No. 6 singles.
In the other quarterfinal round Wednesday, St. Kate's plays at St. Olaf. The winners play Friday at Gustavus and St. Thomas, and the championship match is Sunday, May 3, at the highest remaining seed.
