ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict headed into Saturday's home match against St. Olaf looking to push its winning streak to six matches, but the Oles had other ideas.
The Blazers fell 8-1 to St. Olaf in their final home match of the year. Saint Benedict is now 7-9 overall and 4-3 in the MIAC and St. Olaf is 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
Rachel Raden and
Daley Rupar picked up CSB's lone win of the day at No. 1 doubles. The duo shut out St. Olaf's Margaret Zimmerman and Kristi Kroker 8-0.
Laura Finn and
Victoria Beach fell 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, and
Taylor Kraemer and
Cassy Finn kept the match close, but ultimately lost 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
The Oles swept singles play to end the day. Rupar fell 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and
Laura Finn lost 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Maya MacGibbon beat Beach 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Kraemer lost 6-4, 6-1 to Zimmerman at No. 4 singles, Raden lost 6-1, 6-1 and No. 5 singles and at No. 6 singles
Megan Hintz lost 6-3, 6-0.
CSB is back in action Sunday, April 19, when it takes on St. Kate's at 10:30 a.m. at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville, Minn.
