ResultsST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team pushed its current winning streak to four matches Saturday afternoon when it defeated Bethel 6-3 at the courts on the CSB campus in St. Joseph, Minn.
The Blazers are now 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the MIAC. The Royals are 11-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Saint Benedict took a 2-1 lead after doubles play against Bethel. The Royals won the No. 1 doubles match as Kristin Vivian and Abby Kreklau beat
Daley Rupar and
Rachel Raden 9-7, but the Blazers No. 2 and 3 duos came through with wins.
Laura Finn and
Victoria Beach beat Mattie Kidder and Maddy Simpson 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, and
Taylor Kraemer and
Cassy Finn held on for a big 9-7 win over Kourtney Jakubic and Anna Browning at No. 3 doubles.
The Blazers won four of the six singles matches to seal the win Saturday. A big win for CSB came at No. 6 singles when
Megan Hintz defeated Larissa Voss in a tiebreaker in the first varsity MIAC match of her collegiate career. Hintz won 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.
Rupar beat Vivian 6-4, 2-6, 11-8 at No. 1 singles and
Laura Finn beat Kreklau 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles spot. Beach defeated Jakubic 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles to round out the Blazers' wins. Kidder beat Kraemer 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and Browning defeated Raden 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
The Blazers are back in action Sunday, April 12, when they host Macalester in a MIAC match at 1 p.m. on the CSB campus.
