ResultsSARTELL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team picked up its third straight win and second straight MIAC win Sunday morning when it defeated Macalester College 8-1 at Fitness Evolution in Sartell, Minn.
The win pushes CSB's record to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the MIAC. Macalester is 4-8 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Blazers started Sunday morning with a sweep of the doubles competition.
Daley Rupar and
Rachel Raden beat Katelyn Glenna and Riley Menagh 8-5 at No. 1 doubles to get CSB started, and
Laura Finn and
Victoria Beach followed with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Taylor Kraemer and
Cassy Finn completed the sweep with an 8-0 victory over Gabi Rivera and Emily Rule and No. 3 doubles.
Saint Benedict also won all but one of the singles matches Sunday. Rupar defeated Glenna 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and
Laura Finn eat Gabby Queenan 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Kraemer fought through a tiebreaker and defeated Menagh 6-7, 6-2 (10-2) at No. 4 singles. Raden beat Rivera 7-5, 7-5 at No. 5 singles and
Ellen Stensrud defeated Fule 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. The Scots' lone win came at No. 3 singles when Lily Stein beat
Victoria Beach in a tiebreaker, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4) (10-5).
The Blazers are off now until Saturday, April 11, when they are scheduled to play Bethel University at 10 a.m. on the tennis courts on the CSB campus. Saint Benedict is also scheduled to host Saint Mary's at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 12.
