ResultsMOORHEAD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team stayed perfect on the weekend, pushed its current win streak to two matches and picked up its first MIAC win of the season Sunday afternoon when it defeated Concordia College 8-1 in Moorhead, Minn.
The Blazers, who are now 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference, swept doubles play and won all but one of the singles matches against the Cobbers, who fall to 2-6 overall and 0-6 in the MIAC.
Daley Rupar and
Rachel Raden started the Blazers off with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Victoria Beach and
Laura Finn followed suit with an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, and
Cassy Finn and
Taylor Kraemer finished off the doubles competition with an 8-0 sweep at the No. 3 spot.
Rupar picked up her second win of the day when she defeated Brittany Glatt 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and
Laura Finn scored the winning point for CSB when she defeated Jade Haseltine 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Beach beat her opponent 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles,
Taylor Kraemer won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 and
Ellen Stensrud rounded out the day with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles for the Blazers.
Cassy Finn took her match to a tiebreaker at No. 5 singles, but fell 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
Saint Benedict returns home when it hosts Macalester at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 29, at Fitness Evolution in Sartell, Minn.
