ResultsCOLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team picked up four individual wins Saturday in a MIAC dual against St. Thomas at the Palestra Pool on the SJU campus.
Kenzie Young won two events,
Steph Bierman won one and
Carissa Gaffy-Sanford scored a new career-best against the Tommies, who are ranked No. 9 in Division III.
Gaffy-Sanford won the three-meter diving competition with a score of 237.20, a new personal best and the second-best three-meter diving score in CSB history. The career-best score came in her final home meet with the Blazers. She also finished fourth in the one-meter competition with a score of 195.60.
Young won the 1,000 and 500 freestyle races. She won the 1,000 in 11:11.37 – a new career best and the seventh-best time in CSB history. She won the 500 in 5:27.99. Bierman picked up CSB's fourth win of the day in the 100 freestyle. She finished in 55.13 seconds. Young also took fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:23.
Bierman also took second in the 50 free in 24.78 seconds and the 200 free in 1:59.74.
Katie Heller took third in the 100 in 57.13 seconds and the 50 in 25.95 seconds.
Kristina Rudin finished fourth in the 50 (25.98) and 200 (2:04.36) and
Lauren Noel took fifth in the 200 (2:10.54). Bierman, Rudin and Heller teamed up with
Jessica Thurin to take second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:45.94.
Thurin finished second in the 200 butterfly in 2:28.01 and the 100 fly in 1:03.91.
Gaby Hagen finished fifth in the 100 fly in 1:09.81.
Haley Chatelaine took fifth in both the 1,000 free (11:58.57) and 500 free (5:49.7).
Jenna Humbert took third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.57) and 200 backstroke (2:21.72).
Emma Ridgeway finished fourth in both races and Ellie Brewers took fifth in the 100 and 200 backstroke.
Ashley Groebner took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.68) and fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:44.18).
Kaylee O'Connell took fifth in the 100 breaststroke. Humbert, Groebner, Thurin and Heller combined to take third in the 400 medley relay in 4:17.70.
Saint Benedict is off now until it travels to Minneapolis for the Jean Freeman Invite. The invite, which features Division I competition, runs Dec. 4-5 at the U of M Aquatic Center.
