Box ScoreDULUTH, Minn. – The No. 13 College of Saint Benedict volleyball team picked up its third win of the year Saturday afternoon when it defeated the College of St. Scholastica 3-0 in a nonconference match in Duluth, Minn.

Nicole Hess is just five wins away from reaching the 100-win milestone at St. Ben's. She is 95-33 overall in the start of her fifth season with the program.

Saturday afternoon, St. Scholastica kept the first two sets close against Saint Benedict, but the Blazers pulled away in the third set to complete the sweep. St. Ben's won 25-22, 25-20 and 25-12.

Laura Schmitt and
Lexi Rinde each had 11 kills for the Blazers, who had 46 total kills.
Mary Franz added seven kills. Senior setter
Taya Kockelman had 36 assists and Schmitt and
Victoria Nass each had nine digs.

Saint Benedict held St. Scholastica to just 23 total kills. Gloria Ohaju led the team with eight kills. Erika Birkeland had 11 assists and led the team with seven digs.

The Blazers are on the road Friday and Saturday Sept. 12-13 at the Elmhurst Tournament in Elmhurst, Ill. The Blazers play Dominican and UW-Superior Friday and Concordia (Wis.) and Maranatha Baptist (Wis.) Saturday.
