About the Scots: After falling to the Blazers in the MIAC Championship game last year, the Scots failed to make the NCAA playoffs. Although they graduated three All-MIAC players (including MIAC Player of the Year Georgia Cleopfil), they were picked to finish second to the Blazers in the conference poll this year. Through three MIAC games they are 1-1-1, with their loss coming against first-place Augsburg.
Â
Last Year:
In 2013 the Scots were the only team to beat the Blazers in St. Joseph, beating the Blazers 1-0 in early October. The Blazers however exacted their revenge at the MIAC Championship game one month later in Collegeville. Cleopfil, who either scored or assisted all of Macalester's goals against the Blazers last year, has since graduated and is no longer with the team.
Â
Storyline:
A win in this game would be a huge victory for either squad.. A win for the Blazers would solidify their place with Augsburg atop the MIAC rankings as well as send a message to the MIAC that they are still the cream of the MIAC crop despite graduating a strong senior class from last year's campaign. A win for the Scots would send the message that they are still a MIAC power and vault them back into the race for the MIAC Championship.
Â
The Blazers have not given up a goal in the past 349 minutes (5 hours 49 minutes) of game time. Macalester has been shutout just once this year.
Â
Last Time Out:
On Saturday the Blazers shutout the Gusties by a 3-0 score. In her first game back after missing the St. Olaf game, junior forward Gracie Vaughan scored once and assisted another goal to help secure the victory. First-year midfielder Jenna Kleason scored the first goal of her collegiate career when she headed a cross from fellow first-year Mariah Williams past Gustie keeper Caroline Olson.
