RESULTS |

Lakeville, Minn. – The Saint Benedict tennis season wrapped up today (Apr. 29) as the team fell 5-0 to St. Thomas in the quarterfinals of the MIAC Tournament.

The sixth seeded Blazers finish 2014 with a 13-10 overall record, and placed fifth in the MIAC with a 6-4 league mark.

CSB got down 3-0 after doubles play, and the Tommies took the first two decisions in singles action to secure the win. In conference tournament play, once a team has reached a score of five, the match is considered complete and play is ended.

At No. 1 doubles, the Blazers' duo of Laura Finn (Delano, Minn.) and Jamie Hoffman (Bemidji, Minn.) gave the Tommies (15-3) top pair all they could handle before eventually falling 9-7. The Tommies top combo of Bridget Noack and Lara Lefsrud own a 14-2 mark at No. 1 doubles this season.

Finn was also playing No. 1 singles on the night, and fell 6-3, 6-2, suffering just her sixth loss of the season.

Victoria Beach (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Ellie Black (Litchfield, Minn.) dropped an 8-5 decision at No. 2 doubles, and Erin Stocker (St. Cloud, Minn.) and Rachel Raden (Burnsville, Minn.) fell by a narrow 8-6 score at No. 3.

Beach was the Blazers' other singles match to conclude on the night, falling 6-0, 6-2 to Lefsrud at No. 3.

The No. 3 seed in the tournament, St. Thomas will now advance to play No. 2 seed Gustavus on Thursday, with the winner moving on to the MIAC Championship match on Saturday.
