| PLAYOFF SITE | BRACKET | St. Paul, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2014 Women's Tennis Tournament Bracket on Sunday (Apr. 28) at the conclusion of the conference regular season.
The No. 6 seed Blazers will open at No. 3 seed St. Thomas at 4:30 p.m., Apr. 29.
Saint Benedict finished the season in a fifth place tie with St. Olaf, with both the Oles and Blazers owning identical 6-4 conference records.
CSB narrowly lost to St. Olaf in the regular season, falling by a 5-4 score on the road. With the loss, the Blazers will enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed.
The Tommies finished the regular season in a tie for second with Gustavus with an 8-2 conference record. However a Tommie loss to the Gusties dropped them to the third seed.
Second seeded Gustavus and top seeded and regular season champion Carleton each receive a first round by in the tournament.
The MIAC Playoffs will also feature a new format this season, with the high seed hosting each match, rather than a neutral site has it has been in the past.
If the Blazers upset the Tommies in the first round, they will face Carleton on the road in the semifinals. The MIAC Tournament champion receives and automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
The Blazers are returning the conference tournament after a one-year absence last season, qualifying for the postseason in seven of head coach
Scott Larsen's eight seasons. Sitting at 2-4 in MIAC play, they closed the regular season with four straight wins, including an upset of defending champion St. Kate's on Saturday.
Earlier this year, the Tommies took a 6-3 decision from the Blazers in the MIAC opener in Minneapolis on Feb. 9. The Blazers started the match with a 2-1 lead after doubles play, but the Tommies came back with a 5-1 edge in singles play for the eventual 6-3 win.
