| RESULTS |Sartell, Minn. – The Saint Benedict tennis team closed the regular season in grand fashion today (Apr. 27), scoring a 9-0 sweep over visiting Concordia.
It marks the third 9-0 win for the Blazers (13-9, 6-4 MIAC) this season, and sends them into the MIAC Tournament riding a four-match winning streak.
Closing the regular season in a tie with St. Olaf in fifth place, CSB will open the conference tournament on Tuesday (Apr. 29) as the No. 6 seed, as they lost 5-4 to the Oles earlier this season.
In getting the win today,
Daley Rupar (Merrill, Wis.) at No. 1 singles and
Beth Richmond at No. 6 each won by perfect 6-0, 6-0 scores. The Blazers won all six singles matches in straight sets, with three others posting one set win by 6-0.
Laura Finn (Delano, Minn.) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and senior
Jamie Hoffman (Bemidji, Minn.) won the last regular season match of her career 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 5
Ellie Black (Litchfield, Minn.) won 6-0, 6-1, and rounding out the day
Victoria Beach (Grand Rapids, Mich.) won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.
The Blazers opened the day with a 3-0 lead after doubles play, which included an 8-6 win in the second spot from
Emily Erickson (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) and
Rachel Raden (Burnsville, Minn.) as the pair teamed up for the first time.
The six seed in the upcoming tournament, the Blazers' will play the third seed in the quarterfinals, however, that opponent is still yet to be determined.
