| RESULTS |Winona, Minn. – The Saint Benedict tennis team won its second match in as many days by a 7-2 final, this time topping Saint Mary's on the road.
The Blazers (11-9, 4-4 MIAC) started the match off with a 3-0 sweep of doubles play, and were well in control before singles play even started. Leading the charge on the doubles court were
Jamie Hoffman (Bemidji, Minn.) and
Laura Finn (Delano, Minn.) at the top spot, winning 8-4 for their team best 12
th win as a pair on the year.
When singles play did begin, the Blazers kept their momentum rolling, taking decisions from the Cardinals (8-8, 3-6 MIAC) at each of the top two spots to move the team score to 5-0 and lock up the win.
Daley Rupar (Merrill, Wis.) won for the second straight day with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 1, and Finn extended her team best win total to 14 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 2.
Saint Mary's finally got on the board with wins at No. 3 and No. 4, but it was too late as the Blazers were already well on their way to the win.
To round out singles action,
Erin Stocker (St. Cloud, Minn.) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and
Beth Richmond (Eau Claire, Wis.) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.
The win moves the Blazers back to .500 in MIAC play and give CSB its sixth straight win over the Cardinals. The Blazers hold firm in sixth place in the MIAC standings with just two matches left in the season, with the top-six at the end of the year advancing to the MIAC tournament.
