Minneapolis – The Saint Benedict tennis team jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles action and never slowed down, taking a 6-3 win over Bethel on Mar. 29.

The win evens the Blazers conference record at 2-2 (9-7 overall) with six league matches still left to play.

After jumping out to the advantage after doubles action, the Blazers and Royals (3-10, 0-5 MAIC) split their singles matches as CSB scored the win.

It was the Blazers second win in their last three matches, while the Royals continue to search for their first conference win of the season.

Jamie Hoffman (Bemidji, Minn.) at No. 3,
Victoria Beach (Grand Rapids, Mich.) at No. 4 and
Erin Stocker (St. Cloud, Minn.) at No. 6 were all winners on the singles court. Hoffman was dominant in her win, scoring a 6-1, 6-0 victory, tying her best score of the season from the Hamline match earlier in the year.

Beach was nearly as impressive, winning 6-1, 6-1, posting her most lopsided victory of the season.

Hoffman and Beach also teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-5 for their second win together on the year.

Playing together for just the third time all season were
Daley Rupar (Merrill, Wis.) and
Laura Finn (Delano, Minn.) at the top double spot, and they responded with an 8-6 win. Rounding out doubles were Stocker and
Ellie Black (Litchfield, Minn.) at No. 3, and they won 8-3.

The Blazers stay on the road next Saturday when they travel to St. Olaf for a 10 a.m. match, Apr. 5 in Northfield. They then return home to host Carleton a day later, making up the match that was postponed earlier in the year. The Blazers and Knights first serve is 5 p.m., Apr. 6 at Fitness Evolution in Sartell, Minn.
