Tennis Sweeps Hamline

The Blazer tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Hamline.

Laura Finn improved to 7-0.

Sartell, Minn. – The Saint Benedict tennis team won in a big way today (Feb. 22), scoring a 9-0 sweep over visiting Hamline in MIAC action.
 
Playing in their first match in almost two weeks, the Blazers (6-1, 1-1 MIAC) showed no rust, as just two sets in singles play had scores closer that 6-2.
 
The Most impressive win of the day came at No. 2 singles, where Jamie Hoffman dropped just one game all day in winning 6-0, 6-1. Hoffman improved to 5-1 on the year, and is now second on the team in wins.
 
Scoring her seventh win of the season, and staying unbeaten in her rookie campaign was Laura Finn at No. 3 singles. Finn won 6-1, 6-1, dropping just the two games.
 
At the top, Daley Rupar broke out of a two-match losing streak to win 6-4, 6-1, while Ellie Black won 6-2, 6-1 in her first match at No. 4 singles to improve to 2-1 on the year.
 
Rounding out the day, Erin Stocker and MacKenzie Rixe won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively, each scoring their first wins of the spring season.
 
In doubles action, Hoffman and Finn improved to 7-1 at No. 1 with their 8-1 win, while Rupar and Black improved to 3-0 together with their 8-2 win. Stocker and Megan Hintz won 8-5 at No. 3 to round out doubles play.
 
The Blazers are now off until their spring break trip where they'll play four matches in a four-day span in Tampa, Fla. The week starts against John Carroll on Mar. 2 at 3 p.m.
