ResultsST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team opened its home season with a successful showing Friday night in a dual meet with St. Kate's at the Warner Palestra Pool on the Saint John's campus.
The Blazers won 14 events at their first home meet of the year. First year
Kristina Rudin and junior
Steph Bierman led Saint Benedict with two individual wins and the duo teamed up with
Laura Peterson and
Meghan Harder for a relay win as well.
Rudin won the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle for the Blazers. She won the individual medley in 2:19.17 and the 100 free in 56.86 seconds. Bierman won both the 200 and 500 freestyle races. She won the 200 in 2:01.81 and the 500 in 5:28.47. Rudin and Bierman combined with Peterson and Harder to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:42.99.
Kenzie Young picked up her second win in the 1,000 free in 11:17.77. She finished second in the 500 free for the first time this season to teammate Bierman.
Alissa Lager won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 211.55, and
Jenna Humbert won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.28.
First year
Grace Hesse won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.14, and Peterson and Harder both added an individual win to go with their relay win. Harder won the 50 free in 25.69 seconds and Peterson won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.38.
Emma Ridgeway, Hesse,
Jessica Thurin and Harder combined to win the 200 medley relay in 1:56.17.
The Blazers return to action Dec. 5-6 when they travel to Minneapolis, Minn., for the Jean Freeman Invite.
