Back in Action: The Saint Benedict tennis team is back in action today (Apr 23) with a home match against St. Scholastica. The team is coming off three straight losses, which dropped their overall record to 8-6 and 2-5 against MIAC teams. The Blazers will face off against the Saints at Fitness Evolution in Sartell, Minn. At 7 p.m.

About St. Scholastica: The Saints have been playing tough this year with a 17-5 record and a perfect 9-0 record in UMAC play.  Of these 17 wins, 12 of them were sweeps. In the past month, the Saints went 9-1 with seven sweeps and an 8-1 win against the University of Minnesota Morris. Also, all of their nine wins were against UMAC teams.

Last Meeting: In the last meeting between these two teams, which was back in 2011, the Blazers handed the Saints their first loss of the season with a score of 5-4 as they swept all three doubles matches in the match. The Saints had only lost two doubles matches all season before facing the Blazers. The Saints fought back during singles play with four wins in single play, but the Blazers finished strong and walked away with the win.

Storyline: After starting the season 8-3, the Blazers have fallen to 8-6 with three straight losses. A win against the red hot Saints would give the Blazers a huge turnaround to boost them into their last two matches of the regular season and into the MIAC Tournament in early May.

Who to Watch: Daley Rupar currently leads the Blazers in wins with 11 and has a 10-3 record in the No. 2 spot in singles play. Ellie Black follows right behind Rupar with an overall record of 10-4 in singles play. In doubles, the team of Jamie Hoffman and Rupar lead the Blazers with a record of 7-4 in the No. 1 position. The combination of Victoria Beach and Ellie Black are also 7-3 in the No. 2, helping the Blazers' to a 25-20 mark in doubles on the year as a team.
