Back in Action: The Blazers round out the weekend with a 3:30 p.m. match-up with Carleton on Apr. 21. Originally scheduled to be home match for the Knights in Northfield on Apr. 20, the latest winter storm moved the match back to Sunday, and the two teams will now play indoors at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville.
About Carlton: With a 9-7 record this season and 5-1 mark in the MIAC, the Carlton Knights look to keep their perfect “home” record as they face the Blazers, who are on the road. The Knights started out the season with four consecutive wins, which included three MIAC sweeps. After a 4-2 run the Knights went 1-3 at Hilton Head Island and finished 1-2 in the Midwest Invitational Tournament in Madison.
Last Meeting: The last time these two teams faced off, the Blazers suffered a 9-0 loss at home to the Knights. Carlton jumped ahead to a 3-0 start in doubles, and went on to complete the sweep in singles play. The Blazers, though, got strong matches played by
Megan Seipel and
Sarah Rossman.
Storyline: Can the Blazers get back on track after two straight losses in MIAC action. Earlier this season, the Blazers did just that, coming back from losses to St. Catherine and Bethel to score a big 9-0 win over Macalester and start a run. With just three MIAC matches left, including today, there is little time to waste as the Blazers look to return to the conference tournament in early May.
Last Time Out: The Blazers suffered a rough 6-3 loss to St. Olaf on Friday night. The Blazers earned a split through singles play, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Ole's sweep of doubles action.
Daley Rupar,
Ellie Black and
Aly Dahlquist all won in singles play.
Up Next: Next Tuesday (Apr 23), the Blazers bring it back home to face off against Saint Scholastica at 7:00 p.m. This will be the Blazer's last non-MIAC game of the season and their only break in the past five games.
