Moorhead, Minn. – The Saint Benedict tennis team made it two straight on Mar. 16, with their 7-2 win over Concordia.

The Blazers controlled the match with the winless Cobbers (0-9, 0-3 MIAC) from the start, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles and then cruising through the top three players to lock up the win. The victory also gets the Blazers to an even 2-2 in MIAC action, while moving their season record to 4-2 as they get their second consecutive win.

Holding the edge after doubles action, Victoria Beach at No. 3 singles, Daley Rupar at No. 2 and Jamie Hoffman at No. 1, respectively won in dominant fashion, dropping only four games combined.

Beach started singles play with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win, the first shutout of the first-years young career, and her third straight win. Rupar and Hoffman then each won 6-2, 6-0, with Hoffman providing the match clinching fifth win, on the way to the team final, 7-2 win.

Playing No. 4 singles, Beth Richmond also won her third straight, and in her first match of the season at No. 6, Alli Renzie worked through a 7-5, 6-4 match for her first win of the year.

MIAC play will now be put on hold until April when the teams can get back outside, but in the meantime the Blazers will get ready for five matches at Hilton Head Island Mar. 23-27 over Spring Break.
