Saint Benedict started the scoring just six minutes into the first period on a goal by first-year

Hot Start Not Enough |
The Blazers once again took the early lead, capitalizing on a St. Olaf penalty. First-year Alyssa Hoffman put the Blazers up by one on an assist from senior
Alex Carlson. The lead was short lived as the Oles evened the score 2-2 just three minutes later. Neither team was able to gain the edge before the end of the period and left the ice tied at two.
A relentless Blazer offense took the ice in the third but was unable to get any more shots past the St. Olaf goaltender. St. Olaf notched the eventual game winner eight minutes into the third period and was able to hold off the Blazer offense to take game one of the series.
Saint Benedict outshot the Oles 41-to-30 to start the series, but St. Olaf came out on top. Sophomore goaltender
Jenna Traut stopped 27 shots for the Blazers.
The Blazers return to action at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Feb. 8) in Northfield, Minn. for game two series with St. Olaf.
