Northfield, Minn. —The Saint Benedict hockey team went to Northfield, Minn. for the road installment of their two game series against St. Olaf, coming back and a 3-1 loss as the Oles swept the series.

For the second night in a row the Blazers struck first on a shot from Alli O'Brien. The goal took place 4:45 into the first period as O'Brien went unassisted from the middle of the ice in front of St. Olaf's goaltender, Ali McKeever.

A little over a minute later the Blazers' Elizabeth Hermes was called for checking which put the Blazers on the penalty kill. It only worked for a minute, until Shea Noerenberg buried a shot in the back of the net off a pass from Alana Patrick.

Then in the second, O'Brien was called for checking from behind which resulted in a game misconduct for the high powered sophomore. Despite the lengthy penalty the Blazers didn't allow a second period goal and maintained a tie with the Oles.

The game remained tied until 10:31 into the third period when Tara Reyelts scored another power play goal for the Oles. She was assisted by Patrick – her second helper of the night – and Nicole Stumpf who scored two goals for the Oles last night. With 12 seconds left in the game Margot Fleming scored an empty net goal, ending the game with St. Olaf on top of the Blazers, 3-1.

Jenna Traut started her third game in a row for the Blazers and allowed two goals on 39 shots against. Her counterpart this afternoon, McKeever, only allowed one goal on 24 shots. McKeever got the start today instead of Sam Ubl who was the starting goaltender for the Oles last night.

The Blazers will look to take their quick starts a step further as they take on Bethel University at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15th at the MAC.
